PhD Position in Knowledge-Graph driven Factuality and Explainability
We are looking for a highly motivated PhD student to join us at TU Wien and contribute to a groundbreaking project focused on using knowledge graphs to improve factuality and explainability of large language models (LLMs) in the context of conversational data exploration and analytics.

Tasks
- Research, project, and publication activities within the fields of databases, data and knowledge engineering
- Solving scientific problems with the motivation for independent and goal-oriented research
- Participating in teaching activities
- Participation in scientific events
Candidate profile
- An excellent master or diploma in Computer Science (or closely related field)
- Strong programming skills and experience with developing research prototypes
- In-depth knowledge and experiences within the following areas: knowledge graphs, graph data management, machine learning, and LLMs.
- Ability to develop methods, concepts, as well as their implementation and evaluation
- Willingness to contribute in interdisciplinary projects
- Organizational and analytical skills as well as a structured way of working
- Ability to work in a team, problem-solving skills, and creative thinking
- Excellent spoken and written communication skills in English.

- Entry level salary is determined by the pay grade B1 of the Austrian collective agreement for university staff. This is a minimum of currently EUR ca. 3,578/month gross, 14 times/year for 40 hours/week.
Special Conditions and Opportunities
This position is part of the European MSCA Doctoral Network ARMADA, which in total offers 15 positions. Hence, applicants must not have resided or carried out their main activity (work, studies, etc.) in Austria for more than 12 months in the 3 years immediately prior to the starting date of the position. The contract will be for 3-year full-time position and include the chance to spend a period of a few months with Matteo Lissandrini at the University of Verona during a planned secondment.
